Twelve Stones: Remembering God...Restoring Relationships

Counseling Philosophy

At times even the strongest families or individuals are caught in the midst of a situation so intense, conflict so hurtful, or emotional turmoil seemingly beyond their ability to cope, that they need to turn somewhere for help. At the Twelve Stones Ministry Campus we provide hope through Biblically-based and carefully tailored individual, couple, and family counseling. Twelve Stones goal is to give real answers, lasting wisdom and spiritual encouragement to those whom life seems hopeless and defeating. We believe in the power of the gospel to heal relationships by reconciling them to God and to one another. By working alongside local churches, their friends, and extended family Twelve Stones can help promote a more personal support system, loving accountability, and follow up.

We know that “one-size-fits-all-counseling” is not heart-changing counseling. Our counseling philosophy includes careful assessment and development of a biblical plan of action for couples, parents, youth, and when appropriate individuals who will be advocates, helping them transition back home after their stay at Twelve Stones.

There is a time to warn, a time to encourage, and a time to help, but in all cases patient care and love promote the goal of restoration that God has planned for people struggling to find Him in the trials of life.

The Twelve Stones name is a reference to a story in the book of Joshua. In obedience to God, Joshua has the leaders of the twelve tribes of Israel erect a monument made up of “twelve stones” from the Jordan River. This monument was to be a symbol for the people to look upon in time of doubt and confusion in order to remember God’s awesome power, love and faithfulness to them and future generations. (Joshua 4)

Our philosophy rests on this conviction: All people need to be reminded of God’s love, His promises, and His holiness especially in times of crisis. Remembering His faithfulness in the past provides help in the present and hope for the future. We believe this hope comes alive in our hearts through His Word, His Spirit and His people as Jesus Christ Himself becomes the Cornerstone.
